Educational, Recreational and Vocational (ERV) Program (Africa)
Our Africa ERV program was developed in accordance to GCP’s initiative that is aligned with the United Nations Millennium Development Goals (MDG) for Africa. Our ERV initiative incorporates several of the MDG initiatives for African countries (Combat HIV/AIDs, Poverty and Hunger Alleviation and Basic Universal Education)
The Africa ERV programs were specifically designed for African youth to become better educated, empowered and develop marketable skills for individual wellness as well as for the social and economic development of the nation of Ghana. The program presents opportunity for enhanced knowledge, academically, recreationally and vocationally for a well rounded individual. The three categories (Education, Recreation and Vocational Skills) that form this program are formed to create a well-balanced individual for a healthy and productive lifestyle as well as promote a long-term significant positive change in the social and economic posture of Ghana. The program was developed based on the requirements, surveys, research and studies conducted in Ghana.
GCP volunteers and staff along with local community leaders identify street children (youth that are of school age but not in school) interviewed them and their parents, tested the youth and placed them in the ERV Targeted Educated Applied to Children with Hope T.E.A.C.H. Program or placed them in a public school with the educational necessities (uniform and school supplies).
GCP also collaborates with various schools in Africa (Ghana Education System and Ghana Private Schools) and provides the ERV after-school program for youth to enhance there studies educationally, recreationally and vocationally. In addition GCP is a resource to these African Public and Private schools and sponsors educational programs and fun challenges at these schools (Spelling Bees, Math Quiz, Essay Writing, Science Projects and Public Speaking.
The ERV program promotes critical-thinking, character development, academic excellence, recreational and vocational training for a well balanced productive individual. In addition, the ERV Program encompasses the GCP International Pen Pal Program which allows African Youth to correspond with youth of their own age in other countries. The Pen Pal Program is multifaceted where it provides opportunity for youth to broaden their minds and perspective, increase literacy and comprehension, improve penmanship, establish friendships and stimulate social communication for increased awareness. In addition to the Pen Pal Program, African students and African school administrators participate in the GCP Video Sharing Program where students share their culture, lifestyle and ambition on video with other students and schools of other countries around the world.

International Pen Pal Program
("The Exchange")
In an effort to establish mutual benefit for schools, students and youth worldwide that will increase awareness through communication, exposure, literacy, grammar and penmanship, we developed our International Pen Pal Program. The Global Civic Preservation International Pen Pal Program not only connects youth for cultural awareness, social and economic consciousness and exposure but presents opportunity for establishing diversified friendships of different cultures, backgrounds and socio-economic status. The GCP Pen Pal Program is multifaceted as it provides cultural awareness, knowledge and educational skills.
Through pen pal correspondence, youth acquire valuable practice in letter writing skills that can be associated to Language Arts, English and Grammar. This practice increases literacy, comprehension and penmanship while demonstrating critical-thinking, expression and intuitiveness. Youth also have the opportunity to establish and maintain friendships and serve as a means of communicating and bridging the social divide amongst nations and cultures. There’s a wealth of knowledge, exposure and experience obtained through the GCP Pen Pal Program.

Video Sharing Program
("The Exchange")
The video sharing program was developed as a resource to allow schools and students worldwide to communicate, express and share their culture, lifestyle and life experiences with other schools and students. GCP recognized that the vast majority of students do not get a true perspective of what the social and economic stature is for citizens and peers their age in other countries. The Video Sharing Program allows students and schools to create video coverage on various topics and interests and share with schools and students globally through GCP.
The Video Sharing Program is educational, fun and exciting for youth of all ages. This program enlightens and enriches the lives of many through each participant’s experience, culture, understanding and reality. Let’s preserve the essence, beauty and significance of each culture and share it with the world.

Food for Thought Program
Our Food for Thought initiative was developed to facilitate feeding those that do not have the means to provide for themselves or their family. Nourishment is a necessity and not a privilege, and it is our goal to assist as many as we can that go without the proper nourishment. Both children and adults cannot function properly without the proper nourishment… and it is for that reason that we endeavor to feed as many as we can globally so that their bodies are nourished so that they can begin to become more productive. GCP has recognized that no person can think clearly when they are under-nourished.
Studies have shown that school aged students cannot concentrate and think effectively without a nutritous meal. One of the contributing factors for low testing scores and minimal achievement for low-income household students is due to the lack of nourishment. Students cannot think clearly and effectively when they are under-nourished. We believe that we can raise the test scores and achievements of low-income or no income household students worldwide. Help us achieve this goal by helping us supply the necessary food for citizens globally.

Health Awareness
Our Health Awareness Initiative is essential to the normalcy, productivity and individual wellness of our youth and citizens globally. Our mission is to assist youth in communities that we serve to become better educated regarding health related matters and preventative measures to alleviate potential ailments, sickness and disease.
In an effort to achieve this, GCP supports Michelle Obama’s Childhood Obesity Initiative and the “Let’s Move” campaign (www.letsmove.gov) for youth in the United States. Our goal is to make more youth and parents aware of the various ailments and diseases that are caused by obesity and get youth involved in healthier lifestyles. Providing fun and challenging programs and events for youth along with healthier eating habits will result in a healthier generation.
We are on the move in providing Health Education and Awareness through programs and services globally. In Africa we are consistently educating youth and adults on health matters by holding school assemblies, seminars and Community Health Awareness Programs where we discuss and provide First Aid Education, STD Awareness and Prevention (give away free condoms), Dental Hygiene Screenings, Malaria Prevention, Cholera and other water-borne diseases prevention.
Safe Drinking Water
In an effort to combat and eradicate the consumption and use of bacteria-filled toxic water, there are various issues that must be addressed. First and foremost is the education process which is the key to the development of communities and the eradication of water-borne diseases, its consumption and use. Secondly is working with the communities, leaders and officials to invoke a development and lifestyle change regarding the water and sanitation issues that surround these communities.
While education and appealing to the community leaders are key elements to eradicating the water and sanitation issues, the fact remains that development in targeted communities require the proper funding. Community Development funding is essential to provide “safe water” and improved sanitation conditions.

Many rural areas of Sub-Sahara Africa including Ghana-West Africa continue to suffer from the lack of purified, filtered or bacteria-free drinking water. The human body requires the consumption of water and mankind’s natural instinct is to try to obtain it the best way possible. For that reason, many citizens of Ghana’s rural communities resort to locating any source of water, drinking it not knowing that it is contaminated, become ill and often die. Many rural Ghanaians are seen competing with animals to get a drink of water from rivers, streams and other stagnant and disease-filled water, thus contracting water-borne diseases such as Guinea worms, cholera and e-coli bacteria diarrhea, bilhazzare, skin rashes, itching and many others. Most of which are painful and often deadly.
Many rural Ghanaians have ingested larvae of water fleas from drinking contaminated water and Guinea worms are bred in the human body directly under the skin and feed off of the carriers flesh. These worms grow in the human body to lengths of 3 feet and are the diameter of a piece of spaghetti. When the worm is mature a blister is formed. When placed in water the blister bursts and thousands of larvae are released into the water and the cycle is perpetuated. Help us to fight against the using and consumption of unclean water.
Global Community Service Projects
Our Global Community Service Projects encompasses identifying and working on projects within the scope of our initiatives locally and abroad to engage youth and volunteers to make a positive impact on our global society. Projects vary from gathering and donating used clothing, volunteering to feed the hungry, volunteering at a local hospital or community project etc....to fundraising to renovate or build a school in a third world country, build latrines / toilets, a clinic or a bore hole (well) for safe drinking water or providing the necessary school supplies for children who are in need.
Our Global Community Service Projects Program provides a mutual benefit for our benefactors (individuals, organizations, schools, classrooms, businesses and corporations, sororities and fraternities etc.) as well as our beneficiaries (third world country communities, schools, the hungry, those hospitalized etc.) Our Global Service Projects advocates unity and cohesiveness through humanitarian efforts to assist individuals, groups, communities and nations that need assistance in specific areas of interests. Our Global Service Projects also promotes critical-thinking, collaboration efforts, volunteering and the utilization of resources to make a positive impact on the lives of others in our global society.
